Hi there,

Thanks for the example!

I would create a category for each section (i.e. "Omlets", etc.) and use the category description field to provide details about what hours that category is available.

I see in this example the benefit of being able to break up the menu into "breakfast" and "lunch". Unfortunately there isn't an easy way to implement something that separates them with the way the theme is currently constructed.

If this is an important feature need, please use this form for an immediate solution: http://themolitor.com/custom

Thanks!

Molitor...

May I give another example...

My client has a breakfast and lunch menu. https://www.dropbox.com/s/j26zlembtu8ww9z/NewDayMenuBrochure.pdf
Taking a look at the pdf, you can see that breakfast and lunch have completely different items. (Drinks are the only thing that remains consistent.)
I am open to any ideas you might have in making your theme work with this; which is a great theme, by-the-way.

Regards,
Samson

Yeah, I'm most likely going to be doing the "4/6" split... My client is pretty easy going, so it wasn't a big deal. That's why I didn't push it... Monsoon on the other hand might have a different situation.

Hi there,

Thanks for sharing your example. I'll think about this some more, but unfortunately this isn't something that I'll be able to implement anytime soon.

I took a look at the lunch menu and a lot of the items were the same as the dinner menu. Have you considered using asterisks (*) for certain items that are only available during certain hours and then explain what the asterisk (*) is in the category description section?

The price difference for lunch/dinner items can be addressed with something like "8/15" in the price section (i.e. "8" is for lunch time, "15" is for dinner).

Just some ideas. I think you can still make this system work. As a user, I much prefer having the ability to look at all items in a single spot. The main reason I decided to build this theme was because I got so tired of all my local restaurants using PDFs or separating the menu into separate pages of the site.

Please keep in mind that you can submit a customization request here: http://themolitor.com/custom

Thanks again for the feedback!

Chris

Molitor...

I can give you my example...

My client is an Italian Restaurant, with a Lunch and Dinner Menu. Each menu has sections within it. For example: Salad, Soup, Pasta, Seafood, Poultry...

The current theme allows for either or ... I can either have 2-sections, Lunch and Dinner OR I can just name the menu "Dinner" and have all the various sections broken down. My site is still in development, but you can see what I mean here - http://www.ilcastellos.com

Fortunately, my client was ok with putting the lunch menu up as a PDF for now, since his main concern was Dinner.

Many restaurants offer multiple menus... Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Catering/Banquet and each one can have various sections.

Hi Monsoon,

As ckelley mentioned, the only reason we block these forums is to (1) prevent users who didn't pay for my themes from getting free support, (2) prevent spam posts, and (3) allow users to post site links and email addresses without the open public having access to that information.

Regarding the menu, I built this theme so that ALL menu items are in one spot. You can easily add as many sections to the menu, which should remove the need for multiple menus.

In other words, I couldn't think of a reason to have anything beyond what is already there. I'm open to suggestions, though. If you can provide an example/reason for having an additional menu I'm all ears.

Thanks!

Chris

well for one my response was to your first post(looks like my post was posted the exact same time as your 2nd response)

to answer that if you want the theme to be customized to fit your needs you need fill a customization request out

as for your last response Im not even going to touch that as theres no need to be rude or disrespectful to us, the item page doesn't say anywhere it supports multiple menus nor does the demo show it either way I forwarded this to Molitor . We hide the support forums for security reasons many people try getting support for things they dont pay for. its also to protect buyers who need to post sensitive information or links to works in progress which the general public doesnt need to view

and this theme fully uses the default WordPress templating system

Excuse me for assuming that a "restaurant" theme should accommodate for something else than a single fixed menu.

It is similar to selling a movie theater theme and only demo ONE movie playing and then telling people who bought the theme expecting that they could have more than one movie that they "shouldnt assume that its included in the functionality".

You mention asking questions in the comment area? The point is that as I mentioned one would assume that a "restaurant" theme would accommodate for more than a single menu...and you know it. Saying that I should have asked on themeforest for something that should have been there in the first place is simply a way to avoid blame.

You also hide your forums comments from view so potential buyers can not see questions...questions that one is redirected to but that the content is hidden unless you are a customer. If you were not hiding your forums to potential customers I would have known not to buy this theme.

Overall I think you are being dishonest instead of helpful with your response. I don't want a refund but you should add a warning on TF that the theme only allows ONE menu and that the theme does not use the WP template system so that having more than one menu will require additional costs.
