Hi there,

WordPress has a limited amount of functions available to create a breadcrumbs feature. The one being used grabs the first post category it finds (alphabetically) and then looks for parent categories. If the main parent category is the first one found, then the subsequent child categories won't be discovered.

Hope that makes sense.

One thing to try is make the category slug alphabetical on the category edit screen.

Best,

Chris

Hi Chris,

I changed the sub-category "sport" to "a-sport" and this sub-category is now in the breadcrumps.
And than renamed back to "sport", not shown in breadcrumps.

What does it means for me?
How to fix it?

Any ideas are welcom :)

Thanks so far for your help, Chris.

Hi there,

This may be the result of a WordPress function limitation. To test this, try changing the title of "Sport" to "A-Sport" temporarily to see if it appears.

Let me know.

Best,

Chris

Hi Chris,

my site is: http://jingzhou.de/

Categories are: Blog | Alltägliches | Events | Sport.
"Blog" is a main category.
The other categories are sub-categroy of the main cagetory "fotos".

If you open a single post from "Sport" (for exxample: http://jingzhou.de/fotos/kings-of-xtreme/), the breadcrump does not show the sub-category "sport".

If you open a post from "Events" (e.g. http://jingzhou.de/fotos/down-below-x-mas-special/), the breadcrump shows the sub-category "events".

I double-checked the categroy selection. Every post except posts in blog-category are assigned to main-category "Fotos" and a sub-category.

Hope this information can help you.

Thank!
Jing
