Hi there,

Thanks for updating me. I haven't heard from the WPML team. I've tried communicating with them in the past and they aren't very unresponsive :-/

Regarding the issues you're having, I can't think of a reason any translation plugin would be touching class names for HTML markup. WPML is a pretty popular plugin, so I'm inclined to think that competing plugins use a similar approach (if not the same exact approach) to translation.

Unfortunately I have no developer knowledge of theme translation plugins. I'm only aware of what's required of a theme developer in order to make themes "translation ready" and I've followed all those steps to the best of my knowledge and abilities.

As a result, I'm really not in a position to troubleshoot this issue as it only occurs after a plugin changes the theme code. I'm more than willing to address any potential theme-related issues, but I really need the plugin developer to let me know what the problem is with how our two different products interact with each other.

I sincerely hope you understand.

Best,

Chris

Hi Chris,

I hope you've heard something from Team WPML, because I have not. But I do have a bit of news for you. Since this is my business site and I was supposed to go online yesterday with it, I am looking at ways to make it work. I have thus tried your theme with the alternative to WPML, qtranslate and the exact same thing happens with the same pages and with the stripped class in front of the menu items.

This would to me suggest that it is a problem of MISC after all.

I just so wish I could use the theme, having paid for it and loving it to bits... but it's looking really harsh for me at this point, because why would WPML or you debug and update both your outlets just for me...?
Hope you are doing well on the other side of the pond.
Best
B.-

Hi there,

No worries. It's a popular plugin, so if there is something I can do on my end to make it work then I'll take care of it ;-)

Best,

Their response is to ask me for an ftp access... O_o

Which I refused.

I am appalled. I know what I am doing. Been using Wordpress for a really long time and have customised it since '06. This is ridiculous. They have told me now that - after three days of 'looking' at it - they are going to contact you.

Sorry if this causes YOU any more work now.

I've posted a support ticket here: http://wpml.org/forums/topic/stripped-classes-in-menu-links/ (Hope you can see it without logging) and am waiting for them to get back to me...

BUT: it would seem your hunch is right.. because they didn't give me an obvious answer.

Thank you so so much for your help and patience in this. Again: I am in awe with your themes. Let's hope I get to use it how I want to.

Best!

Hi there,

When visiting http://agencephilosophique.ch/wp/en -- It looks like the plugin is removing the class names for the font icons above the menu text. As you can see, the only menu items that don't work properly are the ones that don't have any icons above them.

As far as I can tell, this is a bug/issue with the plugin incorrectly translating the class names of those icons. Everything else appears to be working like it should.

I'm not familiar with WPML, so I'm not aware of what settings or options are available. I would start looking for ways to prevent certain items from being translated. I'm actually surprised the plugin is even touching class names as those are required for the stylesheet to work. Because of this, I'm tempted to think this is a WPML bug.

Unfortunately I don't have more to add than that. Please let me know if you're able to resolve this using the plugin settings or if you need to seek support from the WPML team.

Thanks!

Chris

Hello,
first off thank you for such an amazing theme. I do hope you will be able to help me.
I am using your theme here: http://agencephilosophique.ch/wp/
It's a multilingual site - through WPML - and now that I am adding the rest of the translations a weird thing starts happening to the menu: the menu link in the WP backend points to the right page, but in the front, when I click the 'contact' link for instance, it will read out the wrong page ('agency').

If you go to the page and scroll to the bottom, choose 'German' that's how the menu is supposed to be organised. When you chose English, you'll see the links are not putting out the right content...

I did check all the plugins and it's not one of those.
I am at a complete loss for words here. It feels like it might be a caching issue, but I am not sure. Playing around with the permalink structure didn't help either...

Do you have any idea?
