Hi there,

When you upload an image to WordPress, it creates an image URL. I made a video for you to see how I do it...

https://i.imgur.com/SHDCTau.mp4

Let me know if that helps.

Best,

Christopher

I tutored myself on image url stuff. The closest I got was codes that look like this...

https://c2.staticflickr.com/4/3857/14375721147_d869f1378f_q.jpg

The above represented an image from my Flickr photo. It did not work. I also put <img src= prior to the above and put a closed bracket on other end. Still no luck. As you see I unfortunately have time on my hands or I would have just abandoned al of this. Please let me know where I am going wrong.

thanks so much for quick reply Chris and fully understand. Your point makes sense but I'd love it if you could address the bigger issue since I don't want to focus everything on that single matter of file extensions. Of course I can always download stuff but then it's not really a URL if it sits on my desktop or storage drive.

As you know shareable video or still image links from most online services (google drive, flickr, etc..) will not have file extensions at the end. Sometimes adding the extension works but it usually doesn't. Can you give me an example/free online storage of where I can post my pics in which I can then automatically provide a URL with correct file extensions at end (png, jpg, etc...or mov for example)?

Without this, how am I supposed to do this? Make sense?

PS I also posted this to your site.

Chris! I'm psyched. I have nailed down everything. Love the site. Honestly just only have one problem left and that has been my nemesis since day one.

Yep. Custom image background. This is so bizarre that I have taken up scotch. Aaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! all I want to do is put an image or footage (that I shot and is loaded into my drive!!!!!!!!!!!) onto the site as a background. Why on earth can't I just load onto my WP media library and grab it? Liscence should not be an issue. I shot it!

With the utmost respect, every answer you have given on this problem has not solved problem and it seems you just want to forget answering me man. Bummer. Although it seems counter intuitive to have to provide a URL for images I shot myself, I uploaded what I needed to my FLICKR account and made sure all my liscence settings were correct. Inserted URL and still does not work. This should be so simple. I re-attached same screen grab again on your other forum site so you can see where this set up is for both pages and posts.. I've once again taken more time out of my hours devoted to drinking and playing with my etch a sketch to solve this.

PS Your previous reply says URL provision is "done to support third-party image hosting solutions (e.g. imgur.com, etc.) that do not link up to their media library directly". Whaaa? Whaa? Support sites? Whaa? So I have to pay? No right? I want to use my own image. Period. I bought this theme Chris and I've been super patient.

Can you let me know? Thanks. You can always call me. It would save us both so much time I think.
