Hi there,

I would also like to display more than 10 posts at a time when on a category page. You mentioned the "reading" page. Where is this located?

The number of posts that appear on category pages is controlled from the "reading" page. You can adjust the number there.

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks a lot, Chris.

I got round to it, and now it works fine with the categories.

Just one issue, where the template is playing tricks on me.

1) When I have more than ten posts in a category, the template breaks the posts into category-pages of ten. It means that not all locations for a category (in my case a country) are shown at the same time. ONLY ten posts in a category are mapped at the same time.
http://www.cheapcarrentalworld.com/category/brazil/
Here you will see the black category-box on the top-left and I have to press -->next to see the next 10 posts/locations in the category.

How can I show ALL posts in a category, and get rid of the black category box with ---> next?

Thanks a lot, Chris.

Hi there,

It looks like you're using an old version of the theme. Current version is 1.6.0 and I see you're running 1.4.3.

Please be sure to update and revisit the customize page as that is where ALL the theme options will be controlled.

Best,

Dear Chris,

Thank you very much.

1) I've created a static front page from the appearance -> customize menu. It now displays as a welcome splash screen above the map - EXCELLENT FEATURE you designed there! Thanks a lot.

2) I have created many categories, but don't seem to be able to find a way to "specify the blog category" on the appearance -> customize page.

When I press appearance -> customize, I get:
Site title & tagline
Navigation
Static homepage

If you have the time to visit my page: http://www.cheapcarrentalworld.com and press ROME in the top menu, it shows the three locations under the category of ROME in list view. I would like to show your beautiful map of ROME with the three locations pinned to it :-) I hope there is a way of doing so.

Thanks a lot for your support.

Best wishes
Claus

Hi there,

1. You can specify a static home page on the "reading" settings page.

2. Be sure to create a blog category (even if you don't plan to use it) and specify the blog category on the customize page: "appearance" > "customize"

This will prevent the theme from treating your category pages like a blog because it will know you have a specific blog category assigned.

Let me know if that helps.

Best,

Chris

Dear Chris,

In addition to this...

I have created a categorization-menu for Rome, and when pressing my category in the top menu, I get a list of three posts for Rome (and no map). Is it possible for the template to load the map for Rome and show the three posts/locations on the map (rather than a blog-post list view).

Best wishes

Thanks a lot for your quick reply, Chris.

I've tested different amounts of content, and 3,000 posts seems to be the maximum burden on the script.

It's a great idea you have with the categories. We could make a category for North America, South America, Europe, etc, and then add locations into the categories.

Now, how would I configure the theme so that the splash screen on the front page is without locations/posts, and these only appears as you choose categories from the top menu?

Thanks a lot

Hi there,

Wow, that is a lot of content.

If I let it sit, the site loads just fine for me, but it takes a while because there's so much content being loaded. If it takes longer than the browser thinks it should, it will stop the script and ask if you want to continue.

In any case, I don't recommend loading that much content on a single page. My best suggestion is to break the content up into categories and add the category links to the menu.

Unfortunately this is a side effect of having that much content - unless you make use of a CDN or something like that.

Best,

Chris

Dear Chris,

I have a car rental site with 28,000 rental locations: http://www.cheapcarrentalworld.com

When I upload my posts in the Navigator Template (one post for each location) the theme refuses to show the map + pins.

What are the maximum number of geotagged posts your theme can handle?

Thanks a lot.
