Hi there,

Be sure that any posts you want to appear on the map are not in the blog category you specify in the theme options.

The blog category option in the theme options is for 1 category only and does not support sub categories for the blog. This is because the main function of the theme is the mapping system and the secondary feature is the blog aspect.

Also, if your map is centering on France and you don't have any posts in France, this means you have posts on the map without proper map data. You'll want to double-check you posts that appear on the map to make sure they have map info. You'll also want to make sure you don't have any blog posts showing on the map as well.

Hope that helps!

Chris

I'm having the same problems, and I've tried a variety of structures to try and see if I could find a fix, all to no avail.

Maybe I don't understand the structure. I see you can enter lat/lon on pages and posts, but only the ones on posts seem to work.

Can't get a category page to display any of the pins that are in the posts (or pages) connected to them.

I'll get trying, but I'm lost in the wilderness I'm afraid.

I would rather it worked in both directions. Do you have any suggestions for why this isn't working and please please help me with my category pages. I don't know why they don't work and I have deadlines with the site. Is there any way I could talk to someone in person? or at least in real time?

You should be able to edit the example posts, or your existing posts. But, if your new workflow is working, you may want to start over.

Yes, I guess I was doing things in the wrong order, but my categories sill don't work. I was also hoping there was a way to put posts I created in the back end on my home page map. The only ones that show up are test ones I did with a new work flow. Is there any way to do this or do I need to start over creating posts.

Thanks MoesiOli,

I am excited to try that once I can get my category and home pages working. I still don't have category page maps showing up and my home page has no pins despite having several geographic tagged posts.

hey Jon

maybe this could help.

I did a little workaround to see a background-images instead of a map.
because sometimes the maps are just to bad, but the pin should stay in the map of a category or home.

Just add
&& $data[ 'zoom' ] != '99'
in single.php on line 129 like this

if ($data[ 'latitude' ] && $data[ 'longitude' ] && $data[ 'zoom' ] != '99' ) {

and use in custom post options 99 for zoom level

I have many posts assigned to the category but nothing seems to show up. The 'boulders'category on my page does not display a map of those posts (all of which are geo-tagged) and most of those posts show no map either. It seems to be hit or miss. I also expected all geo-located posts to show up in my home map, but they do not. I understand how I think it is supposed to work, but it is not displaying things correctly. What might I be doing wrong?

Is there not a way I can still geo-tag things for the category display but use a background. If I am talking about an area that google maps only displays trees for I'd really like to use my own image or map. It may make sense on your examples but they are using perfect scenarios.

I have a laundry list of other questions and may be interested in customization if I can first get the basics worked out.

Hey Jon,

The Category pages will only display the location pins of the Posts assigned to that Category. If your posts are going to utilize the Geo-Location feature, you cannot set them to have a background image. It does make sense to have the posts zoomed in on the location when the Post opens up. Then you can have a gallery within that post like the demo.

Does that work for you? Let me know...

Here is a link to the site I am making http://www.climbingcoopers.com/. It is a nonlinear story about the development of rock climbing at Cooper's Rock State Forest. I am hoping to make my main page show all geographic related posts and want my category pages to do the same for the posts under that category. However, I want to use a picture as a background in each post since they only have one pin and an aerial photo of a forested area is pretty meaningless when I can use pictures. My problem is getting my category pages to have any map at all let alone the pins I want. Let me know if this is possible.

Thanks,
Jon
