And I think I just figured that out too. Sigh, apologies. Wasn't copying and pasting custom url. I thought it happened after upload automatically, turns out I had to go to "edit" and copy the URL.

No I think I just figured out the issue. On the customize tab, under static page I had somehow selected "about" on the "posts page" menu.

However, now I have an issue changing the background image. I upload a an image in the Custom Background URL but again, nothing happens. This just isn't my day. Any idea what that might be?

I don't think this would be a theme-related issue as the menu system (and the function that displays it) is controlled by WordPress.

Are you using a cache plugin? Maybe you need to clear your browser cache?

Can you provide a link to your site?

I can't say I'm an expert but I am certainly no newbie either. Maybe something went wrong with the install, because this is the main issue.

1) The menus refuse to assign. For example, I set up an About page. In the appearance>menus I add the "about" menu to the main navigation panel. Everything seems as if it should work and the permalinks match. However, when I test to see if it works, no changes happen.

I am very familiar with menu systems, thats why this is so confusing. If I delete the "about" menu item, it disappears from the Main Menu on the home page. If I re-add the "about" menu, it reappears on the main menu. However it does not link back to the about page. The template seems stuck and unable to be modified regardless of what I do. I've created about a dozen websites and have never run into this particular issue. Any idea what I might be doing wrong?
