Go to Settings > Reading > Check off Front Page Displays "A Static Page" then select About from the dropdown menu.

THAT should do it :)

Maybe I'm missing something because I did that but once the site starts up it lands on the chameleon "default HOME" page. Basically I want my "ABOUT" page to be the default home page. How do I get that to happen.

Hey Brad,

You can create a HOME navigation item. Here's what you do:

Go to Appearance > Menu. Create a "Custom Link" and type in your site url, then put HOME in the Label input field. Add it to your Menu, click and drag to make it the first item in the tree, and hit SAVE.

That should do it :)

Good luck.
Justin

Disregard on how to get the Home page back. I was looking in the "most recent" vs "the view all" in menus/pages box. Still would like further customization on this Home page though. Appreciate the suggestions. :-)

I created a menu called "Main" and it removes your default "HOME" page from top nav. Don't really want or like default home pages since they seem to be only editable in the editor. Id like the customization that I get with a new page but I lose the slider function. Cant see and use my yoast on a default page either. Any suggestions?
