Hi there,

Thanks for following up!

When you make a change in the customizer, there is a slight delay before the change is shown in the live preview. It's possible that you're clicking "save" while the page is being reloaded to show the changes you've made in the live preview area. Does that make sense?

Also, please keep in mind the Theme Customizer is a core WordPress feature. It isn't something that I developed myself, so issues involved with the new customizer tool are usually related to WordPress itself.

Best,

Chris

I have just fixed the logo issue. I have changed the header_bg.jpg file on the site via ftp. This has solved the issue, however as an web developer (not saying I have huge experience), there is still something wrong with the customize function to upload the logo. As I said before, it times out and nothing is able to be saved. I did end up working it out after reading multiple posts on this forum. I know heaps of people ask about the logo and you have created a wonderful package, I just wanted to show where an error is found and maybe this could be fixed in the next update.

I can discuss more with you of what I had to do to fix to try and help others.

Regards,

Hi Chris,

Sorry for the delay in saying my thanks. This worked great! However I went to change the logo (through the customize tab) and it simply will not work. What I mean is, when choosing to upload a picture or drag a picture it times out too quickly and does not save. I have unistalled and reinstalled the theme 3 times and still has not rectified the problem.

I do not know if I am the only person having this problem, but some reason this themes customize section is difficult to use and times out too quickly. When I have had the logo uploaded in the past, I felt it was a pure fluke as it allowed me to save the upload.

Is there any known error about this? Also is there anyway I can hard code the url to the picture I want as the logo?

Regards,

Phillip

Hi there,

The theme already has a Custom CSS panel available for you on the customize page (appearance > customize). Try adding the above CSS there.

Let me know if that helps.

Best,

Hi Chris,

I tried this with my original picture and was only able to get the image partial. I have tried with a larger logo of 191 x 900 (wide). I have installed the plugin my custom css and tried what you put in there. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I just want to have the logo across the top of the page but am not sure what is your maximum height and length. Is there any particular code I need to modify in order to get this to work.

I honestly believe this is a common issue which I truly appreciate your help, but if this could get solved, it would help a heap of people.

Thank you in advance for your ongoing help.

Regards,

Hi chris, when working on another site for a friend I have checked the style.css and the header is set as:

#headerContainer {width:100%; height: 361px; background-image:url(images/header_tile.jpg); background-repeat: repeat-x; background-position: left top;}
#header {position: relative;margin: 0 auto; width:960px; height: 228px; text-align: center; background: url(images/header_bg.jpg) no-repeat center top; z-index: 1000;}

#header a.logo {margin-top: 45px;}
a.logo {
	display: inline-block;
	text-indent: -999px;
	overflow: hidden;
}
a.logo:hover {text-decoration: none;}

body.home #headerContainer {height: 747px;}

a#donate {
	width: auto; display: inline-block; position: absolute; bottom: 10px; right: 0px; font-size: 9px; font-weight: bold; height: 27px; letter-spacing: .8px; line-height: 27px; padding: 0 20px;
	z-index: 2000;
	-moz-border-radius: 3px;
	-webkit-border-radius:3px;
	border-radius: 3px;
}

however when I upload their logo which is 81px x 400 it is cut. When I use inspect it shows different. The site is http://www.politicalmavericks.org.

This site is based on the old theme (although updated) where I have them options. once again my question is, is there anyway to hard code the picture to have excat dimensions? I am not sure what is going on here. I would also like to know what is the maximum height and width of logos workable on this theme. I understand you said above to keep to under 94, but this logo height is 81 and still looks small.

Any advice on both issues would be greatly appreciated.

Phillip

Hi Chris,

I am following your instructions, but when using the upload function on the customise it keeps timing out and no image is uploaded. Is there a way to hard code in the style.css the image you want. I do like the theme, but I hate how the new customize tab has been inbuilt. In the old version there were never this many issues.

Okay I added the logo. As you can see it appears quite diminutive in the space that's actually available visually. Any tricks that will allow me to maximize that real estate for a stronger visual impact?

Hi there,

Try constraining the height of your logo to 94px.

If you provide a link to your site, I can provide more details for adjusting your logo.

Also, I'm moving this thread into the WordPress forum for Politico (currently in the site templates/HTML forum).

Let me know if that works for you.

Thanks!

Well I am using the WPress theme -- but maybe I posted in the wrong area. I am still getting the hang of this sort of thing please excuse my ongoing ignorance :(

There looks to be a decent amount of space up there but when I drop in my logo it goes over the confines of the border in your design. I just want to fit it in the space.

Somewhere in here I saw some info on nudging up the logo... is that how I would tackle that issue.

While on this topic I also noticed that when I tried to alter the size of my logo in Theme Options>Logo>Add Media that the medium and large radio buttons are disabled...

Is there an optimal size range for the logo that will ease this process a bit for me? ... I mean if the nudging this won't work?
