I found a solution. To fix this I replaced at line 8 (in my case)
query$wpuniversity_postshome5

by

urlencode ($wpuniversity_postshome5)

The urleconde function preserves the special characters.

It may be case sensitive. Try "r-d".

I tried to use the slug format "r-d" on the categories page, but it shows R-D on frontpage.

Try using the category slug format (on the categories page, there should be a "slug" column with the name). Usually a slug changes a name like "Research and Development" into "research-and-development".

Ok, thank you for your help. I found the problem.

I have a category called "R & D" , so I think you already got it. The problem is the & signal. I tried using the "full"ampersand but nothing change.

Any tip?

Some things to check...

  1. Make sure you have added the category on the "categories" page.
  2. Make sure the name of the category you created matches the category you listed (case sensitive).
  3. Make sure you assigned a post to the category.

Hi Chris,

My last category at front page is not showing any post. It's just blank. I have 5 categories defined on university options. All work well, just my last one doesn't show anything. Could you please help me to debug this issue?
