A little constructive advice: because any custom CSS unfortunately then applies by default to every single iteration, you can go to your browser's inspector on any page where you need the change to width/margin/etc., and find the page-id-xxx number, then preface your custom CSS with .page-id-xxx so that the custom CSS only affects that page.

Yes it will re center the page but in a mobile phone it won't be centered anymore because of that change.

I would also like to be able to make it wider and keep it centered

Hi there,

While you may have a lot of extra space on some displays, there is a general rule with regards to how wide content should be. Best practice indicates that the content should be no wider than 13-15 words length.

In any case, there are a lot of elements that go into positioning content in the center of the page. Heights, widths, left margin, top margin, etc. all go into play here. Making a width change could potentially effect all of those values, so this is considered a customization because it involves (1) research, (2) custom code and (3) testing.

This is certainly not a defect because the theme is not setup so that users can change the width to whatever setting they want. The theme is setup to look just as the demo site displays and showcases all the features of the theme.

Hope that helps explain things :-)

Best,

Christopher

Hi, Christopher.

Yes, increasing the margin changes alignment, to a point; but it also breaks responsiveness.

Here's where the conversation gets tricky...

You say "customization", I say "defect".

What we're talking about is displaying a singe page or post on the screen; the real estate is huge, yet the content only uses 10-20% of the width of the window (referring to desktop view, mind you). Just doesn't really make sense to me. Now, I suppose where the code gets complicated is when you start talking about displaying multiple entries (say, the Updates/News page) versus displaying a single entry, and how the site knows which is which.

I'm not necessarily trying to argue with you, and I understand the principle of your "customization" option, but hopefully you can understand my perspective as well; I just want to display the content of my site (using your beautiful theme) as effectively as possible.

TIA for humoring me at least to have this discussion, lol...

Hi there,

You may need to adjust the margin to account for the extra space you're creating.

Please keep in mind, support services do not include customizations. I'm just throwing out some ideas off the top of my head. These are just suggestions as they have not been tested and reviewed.

If you need more hands-on support with this, please use this form to submit a customization request: http://themolitor.com/custom

Hi there! Adding that code does indeed increase the width, however it also breaks centering so that the content starts to hang off the right side (and off the page, if you use a high enough value). Help, please?

Hi there,

You can try adding something like the following to your Custom CSS box on the Customize page...

#pageContent.with-scrollbar {
    width: 500px;
}
#pageContent {
    max-width: 550px;
}

Hope that helps!

If you're enjoying the theme, PLEASE don't forget to rate it on your downloads page on ThemeForest. Positive ratings REALLY help me out and encourage further development and updates.

Best,

Christopher

Hi,
I would like to increase the width of the post so that I don't have to scroll up and down. I am using contact form7.
http://www.snap-b.com/ab/contact

I have tinkered with the respond.css, but I haven't found anything that has any effect on it

Thanks,
