Well, technically speaking, loading two images will take longer than loading one image, but the difference should be negligible. Far away from declaring it an "issue". It's just simply the way the theme manages images, which as I mentioned before, is MUCH easier than having to manually copy/paste URLs for every image in your gallery.

Hi there,

With the way the theme functions, it automatically grabs images attached to a post/page. This way users don't have to bother with copy/pasting urls and all that junk.

The downside to this approach is in the instance you want to reuse images in different galleries you'll need to upload them again so that they are attached to that 2nd gallery.

Hope that explains why things are setup the way they are. I still think manually copy/pasting urls takes more work than uploading the same image twice IMO.

is it possible to add one uploaded image in a post as well in a gallery (page)
I want to show all my posted images in a gallery (page) as well. That is no a strange wish for a portfolio template i think?
