OK. Its not live yet - testing server - but you can check it. I have a parent of NEWS with Police and Schools as children. If a police post is made it shows up under each section of the front page. I's like to only show the category and not the children or exclude from the teaser list of it is already displayed on the page.

<?php
$showPostsInCategory = new WP_Query(); $showPostsInCategory->query('cat='.$homeCat.'&showposts=8');
if ($showPostsInCategory->have_posts()) :
while ($showPostsInCategory->have_posts()) : $showPostsInCategory->the_post();
?>

This is the snippet on the index page which controls the "category section". How do I modify this? I've looked at the page you gave but can't get it to work.

Hello,

you'll need to modify the loops to exclude the children http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/query_posts

On the front page, I've set the categories up. The problem I'm having is that if I place children in some of the sections a post is displayed in multiple front sections. Is there a way to only display the parent or exclude post if its already on the page.
