Try making a change on the Customize page, save it, and then revert back. Let me know if that helps.

I created the child theme OK, but the blue color behind the slide show is not showing. It does when I go to Appearance Customize, but not in the live browser.

I installed a plugin called 'Child Theme Configurator' but when trying to create the child theme I got:

This theme may not apply child theme styles correctly with the current settings:

A stylesheet link tag is hard-coded into the header template.
Code exists between the wp_head() function and the closing </head> tag.

I really need to create child theme so my stylesheet edits do not get overwritten. Recommended plugin to do this???
