Thanks Molitor, how would I do this? It seems the font colour of the menu is tied to this... I want the footer background to be white... but if I change the colour to #ffffff than the menu and social icons disappear...

The color for the footer is controlled from the "header.php" file. This is because the theme controls the color. You can override it there.
