Unfortunately thats actually a limitation of WordPress to attach them you must upload them to the post, theres a few plugins that may handle this but I dont know of a specific one on the top of my head

I know how to create a Post Image Gallery, by uploading images etc.

But how do I add an image gallery to a post later, when I want to use images that I have already uploaded to my Wordpress Media Library.

I am only able to choose an image which is then inserted into the post but not as part of an Image Gallery.
