Hi there,

I can confirm there are no theme-based issues here with the random feature. I tested the random feature on two separate domains and they're working as expected. It's a standard WordPress function that is used to create the random posts, so it must be something to do with your particular setup.

Try creating sub categories for filmmakers and assign them to some of the posts. I'm just curious if that will have any impact.

Regarding the footer, the social icons and copyright info is styled to sit at the bottom of the "panel" while the widgets are positioned to sit vertically centered. In other words, the distance changes based on the size of your browser.

Let me know about the categories.

Thanks!

Chris

Also - there is a lot of blank space between the footer (4-col) and and the social icons at the very bottom of each page - is there a way to reduce the amount of blank space so the social icons show up directly under the footer?

I deactivated all plugins - including Contact Form 7. It still only shows the same three filmmakers. Evidently the randomizer is broken. :) Advice on a fix? Failing that is there a way to turn "related" off?

Hi there,

Hmm, that's odd. The posts are set to show at random, so it shouldn't be the same posts if you have them all in one category. Do you have additional plugins installed? If so, try deactivating those to see if they are causing the issue.

Let me know.

Thanks!

Thanks for your response Chris - and BTW really love the theme. With regard to "related" all of the posts do have the same (and only) category called "Filmmakers" The problem is that the theme is pulling the same three filmmakers and populating the related with them (the same three) on every post. As you can imagine - this will ruffle some feathers / egos since it seems I am favoring those three filmmakers over all others. I checked the posts date/time and they are not chronologically in order - so it is not going by timestamp. There are other "filmmaker posts" that are being skipped. I am open to suggestions.

Thanks,

Vickie

Hi there,

The related section is populated by posts in the same category. If you have posts with multiple categories, the WordPress function is grabbing the first category that is matched.

I recommend creating a parent category for all your posts like "Projects" and make sure all project-related posts are in that category. That way you don't have to worry about some posts not having the same sub category.

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks!

Chris

I'm trying to understand how "Related" works. It's not showing all in a category as related, so I'm not sure what logic is being used. Help? How do I control it? site under construction is: http://wildryde.wpengine.com
