Hi there Susan -

I just responded in a separate post. You'll need to follow the Help file and videos exactly to get this setup properly before I can troubleshoot further.

Thanks,
Justin

Now I'm getting that "404, can't find something, YOU IDIOT" message. I didn't actually change anything. What the heck? I just published the posts. I tried deleting the posts, in case they were the prob. That didn't help.

What is the first thing that Politico looks for?

BTW, if you browse to the BLOG page and then go back to HOME, the 404 message goes away. Isn't that cute? Sheesh.

Justin,

I'm shocked, I tell you, shocked that you can't understand. I'm always just soooo clear!

Yeah, right.

Ok, I'll try again: When I look at all the other sites that use Politico, including the one that is on ThemeForest, each item of the slider has a picture on the left (612x325 or so) and a text box on the right. When a "slide" occurs, both of these items change/slide; they are actually a couple, or they are "coupled." And yet, they clearly look like two boxes within the one BIG, blue box.

What I am getting is JUST the picture. I've set its size correctly, so it shouldn't exceed the area on the slider where the picture is of, say, Obama or any of the others; but it takes up the WHOLE screen. This leaves NO room for the text/blog box. (That can continue on another page.)

I've now published the posts again so that you can look at what the heck I'm talking about. That ought to make it clearer, especially when you see the first GIANT picture.

thanks again,
Susan

Hi Susan,

I'm trying to understand what exactly the issue is here. I've read your submission a few times and I'm stumped. Can you explain again?

Sorry... I want to help out.

Thanks,

I am not new to tech work, but I AM new to WordPress and CSS. Sorry. I now have the slider sliding, but only with LARGE pictures, even when I scale them correctly. My page doesn't show the section section that has text/post/link info.

I'm just using family pictures right now, so I've left the posts in draft mode. I can publish them again if it will help you to see what's going on: http://www.alec-destroys-democracy.org

I'm not sure how changing the category to "blog" from "slider" would change things, as you recommended for some people, would help. I tried that. I also tried inserting one of the pictures into the post, even though that's not in the video instructions, all to no avail.

Sigh.

This is also the site where the comment section just showed up on the front page after I'd browsed through several of the default pages. It's as though a flag gets set--something like "comment="yes"--and never gets turned off. Well, it gets turned off on a couple of the pages, but not all.

Any idea as to what I've screwed up?

Thanks again for any help,
Susan
