Hi there,

The gallery only appears if there are images attached to the post. If you want to upload an image for the featured image, do so from the media upload page (not from the post image upload button). Uploading images from the media page will allow you to add content without attaching them to a specific post, which is how the gallery feature is automatically created.

In other words, visit the "add new media" page and upload your image there, then on the post edit page, navigate the media library to add your featured image.

Hope that's clear. If not, you can manually remove the gallery feature from the template file by doing the following...

  1. Open "single.php"
  2. Remove lines 46 - 55.
