Ah, okay. I hope I'll deal with it.

I'll try to remeber all my changes... Most of them in function.php and style.css of course, also in few .php files like header or smth like that. I'll compare major template files with original and will move edited files to child theme.

I think that will work. :)

Hi there,

Not all of the theme, but possibly parts of it. It depends on what customizations you made and what has changed with the updated version of the theme.

Unfortunately making changes to template files without making notes of edits will make it difficult to update the theme.

Best,

Chris

So, because I don't remember all my customization that I've done, I can move whole (or most part of) theme as a child and don't be afraid that I'll lost all my changes? And it will work, overriding existing theme?

Hi there,

The best way to implement template customizations is to use a child theme. More info here: https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

For basic CSS customizations, be sure to use the Custom CSS box on the Customize page.

Hope that helps.

Best,

Oh, okay... If theme will be responsive I'll do not need to fix the sidebar.

But another question about upcoming update. I'm already made enough customisation in theme so I would not like to loose them after update. How to do it better? In case if I don't remember all changes :)

May be there is some software that tell me difference between files in my version of theme and new?

Hi there,

Couple things...

1. Keeping the sidebar on the right at all times will render content hidden at certain widths with the current setup of the theme.

2. I'm actively working on an update to The Daily Press that makes the theme fully responsive. What this means is that any edits you make will not work with the update. I'm shooting to release this update next week.

In light of this, I do not recommend fixing the sidebar that way.

Best,

Chris

Ah, I misunderstood. I thought that Secondary Widget moves to the footer on narrow screens always (even in older versions of the theme). For now I'm using latest version (1.4.1) and want to keep Secondary Widget on right side of the theme permanently, not depending on screen size/device type/display type.

You said that it can be achieved by changing value of '@media screen and (min-width:1270px)' but after playing with it I don't reach any results, maybe because it relates to older versions of the theme.

So how can I keep it at right side of template permanently, without turns info footer?

Hi there,

As of v1.4.0, the Secondary sidebar turns into footer widgets on narrow displays.

What version of the theme are you using?

BTW, for now this string has #1 in the file sidebar.css and changing it value don't give me any effect. Template just keeps a place for secondary widgets column but widgets anyway located at the footer.

So it looks like this:

http://enoughme.com/etc/123molit.png

What's wrong? How to keep secondary widget sidebar permanently on, without depending on screen size?

P.S: deleting "and (max-width:1270px)" / "and (min-width:1270px)" don't affect it too.

Hi there,

Sorry, but that goes a bit beyond the level of support I'm able to provide here in the forums. If it was something I knew off the top of my head I would gladly help, but if it requires a bit of research, testing and custom code then I have to refer you to the customization request form: http://themolitor.com/custom

Hope you understand.

Thanks!

Hi there,

If the secondary sidebar does not appear, that either means it isn't turned on or that the width of the browser is smaller than 1270px.

You can increase this value in header.php on line 79...

@media screen and (min-width:1270px) {

Thanks!

How can I keep "secondary widget" or "secondary sidebar" on AT ALL TIMES and not just when space permits. In most cases there is space but the second side bar does not appear, I want it there all the time.
