Hey Yasmine,

It's most likely because you've got your Wordpress install in a subfolder. You should really have it installed in the Root. Please do that and return the .htaccess file to it's correct state.

That should do it...

Hi Justin,

Thanks for your reply! I know that I should be changing the permalink settings from wordpress, but whenever I tried that all the previous links would in turn give me 404 errors, and I had to manually rewrite .htaccess
After I've done that, all the pages are working fine except wordpress.
The reason my link is that way is coz I have my wordpress site as a subfolder in public_html
I'm not looking for a customization per say, its just that no matter what i change or if i add an index.html file pointing to the header, the slider and calender on the home page dont load, "page not found" error appears.

Would it make a difference if you take a look at the htaccess file maybe?

Thanks alot,
Yasmine

Hey there,

You shouldn't be editing the .htaccess file to correct your permalinks. What you should do is going through the Wordpress admin > Settings > Permalinks and make the changes there. Also, your homepage should simply be /index or just /... for some reason you have /wordpress.

Can you explain what you may have done to have it say /wordpress? Also, briefly explain the customization you're looking to achieve so I can understand the reasoning behind it.

Thanks,
Justin

Hello,

I've been trying to add custom permalinks to my site on wordpress. I edited the .htaccess file and all the pages work great except the homepage, and I cant seem to be able to customize the link of the homepage (because its not an actual 'page' that can be edited in wordpress).
Any ideas on how this could be fixed?
Thanks alot :)
