I created only a thumbnail for the home page tab, the main photo slider does not have the photo after inputting it into the featured image menu. Why isn't it showing up?

Hi guys. I am having an issue with the home slider. The slider is supposed to grab the first photo in the post for "featured posts" on the home page, but my page isn't doing that. Can you help me get this very basic function working?
