I would like to keep the gallery, but the problem is that some of the images pixelate

Is there a way I can restrict the size of the images for the gallery?? Or somehow control it dynamically i.e. if the image is big enough then display as usual, if not hide the gallery??

I actually want to get rid of the picture on the top of the post. I don't want any slideshow. I just want the pictures in the post without having them in the slideshow.
