Hi there,

Glad you got it all figured out.

Auto-slide is not a supported feature of the slider script being used. If you want to add additional functionality to the slider, please use this form: http://themolitor.com/custom

Thanks!

On other thing, and I'm sure I'm just missing it. is how to make the slider "slide". Right now I have a few slides in the site, with captions and set as featured images. However, these do not slide or move automatically. They only change if you click on the thumbnail at the right. Am I missing some setting?

Chris I'm not sure we're on the same wavelenth.

Go to the front page.
Look at the far right side where it has a picture of the slider , and the Hello world. Those are both POSTS. I do not want those showing on ANY page other than the posts page. I do WANT the slider, I don't mind the little thumbnails but I DON"T want regular posts to appear there.

As for #3, I'm curious as to why having a blog page in the Settings->Reading doesn't work the way it does on every other template I've ever used. I'll try your method and see what luck I have.

Hi there,

2. The posts on the home page are part of the slider (i.e. clicking them will change the slider). To remove the slider, open "header.php" and remove lines 62-95.

3. Use a category link on the "menus" page. There's a category box on the lower left side where you can add categories you've created.

Thanks!

Chris

Thanks Chris, but no, the home page is not doing what I want. Notice at the far right, there is a post showing up. I don't want that to show. The slider is now showing properly, thank you for those instructions! But its the post at the far top right -- sidebar -- that I want to get rid of.

On your #3 - regarding the news page, if I want to refer to that page on my menu, how would I do that without it being a PAGE? I do not want posts on the front page at all. I want them on a "News Paget that can be chosen from the menu at the top.

Hi there,

2. I took a look at your home page and see the slider (which includes an image with recent items next to it) and then some full-width content below that. That is what is suppose to happen. Do you not want the slider on the home page? If so, open "header.php" and remove lines 62-95.

3. Regarding the news page, as I mentioned above, don't select anything for the blog page option. Just create a "news" category and add the category link to the menu. You don't need to create a page for the news items.

4. To remove page titles, open "page.php" and remove the following on line 5...

<h2 class="entrytitle"><?php the_title(); ?></h2>

5. The home page is displaying content in full width. The text you have is too small to see that it will extend the full width of the page.

Hope this helps!

Chris

On this issue of the HOME PAGE page not honoring the "FULL PAGE" attribute. It's the ONLY page that doesn't. All the other pages honor that setting and DONT show the sidebar. So I'm thinking that you have some logic maybe not working right. To recap, I created a "HOME" page. I put content on that page and then set the attribute to "FULL PAGE". I went to the Settings->Reading and set the static front page to HOME and the posts page to NEWS. This is pretty much what I do with almost any template. But the sidebar still shows up on the HOME page, but NOT on the others. On the NEWS page I get the posts repeated six times (including the featured post for the slider (not what I wanted) :)

Going to bed now. It would have been nice to be able to edit a post here...then I could actually have put everything in the single post.

Sorry, one more thing that's very annoying...where is the option to NOT put the page title in the content? That's on almost every single template out there, but not here? Will I have to actually go to every page and edit that out?

Also, please check the NEWS menu link (which is set to my BLOG page in the Resding setting). You'll notice that the single, default entry is posted multiple times. I don't thing that's supposed to do that.

1) Chris, thank you for your help on the slider for sure. That is NOT mentioned in my version of the help that came with the template. I will try these things.

2) Afraid that I'm experienced enough to know to make the changes in the reading settings, and that as done. But as you can see on my page (http://www.entdyn.com/lionsuniversity) you can plainly see the blog entries showing up on the right sidebar and the blog is showing at the top of the content. This even though my "home" page has it's attribute set to FULL PAGE. I will be happy to send you a screenshot of this.

Hope this helps. I will be glad to set you up admin rights if you need them. Provide me an email and I will be happy to do this.

Cheers!

Hi there,

1. The slider is created using posts. Create a category and assign that category in the theme options panel for the slider. Then create posts in that category. To feature images, use the “Featured Image” section on the lower right side of the post edit page.

2. If you want to use a static home page, make sure you select the page you want to use on the "reading settings" page. You don't need to worry about the blog page option. To show a blog/category page, just add the category link to the menu.

Regarding the full page template, can you provide a link to your site? I'll take a look.

3. Features should all still be there, just might look a little different. I did the walk-through video is 2009, so WordPress has changed a lot visually, but some of the processes are still the same. I hope it isn’t too confusing. It’s difficult to do an entire walk-through video for every release of WordPress for all my themes. I hope you understand.

4. The help file is included with the theme and is also available online: http://www.themolitor.com/help/wpuniversity/

Thanks!

Regarding #1 - It seems that must be the slider, but I can find no reference in your help file or anything else on how to enable this. On my version, when I go to the Theme Options, the slider option just has a drop down box and it says "Uncategorized"

Also, I watched and obviously OLD video walkthrough of the template and it looks like alot of the orignal features have been stripped...ie this true? The categories of posts, that entire large option page doesn't even exist anymore.

I will search around to try to find a help file but it's quite confusing with no documentation.

I just downloaded the latest version of the University Template. I have set the implementation to have a static home page, and the blog page to be "News".

There are two problems:

1) On the Home page, I can't seem to get the image of the "college" that you have to locate to that spot above the page content. What's the trick?

2) I have set the HOME page to use the "Full Page" Template option, yet, on the right, the posts are still showing. What's the trick there?

In addition, on the "NEWS" page that I set to be the blog posts, there is only ONE post currently (the default that came with it) and it's appearing six times!

Thank you for you support!
