Oh, gotcha!

Yes, that's because the theme is trying to load the content of the first tab so that it's visible when users scroll down. With your external link first, there won't be any content for the theme to load, so that's why you get an error message.

I'm obviously doing something wrong. If I do it this way, with the HOME button at the right end of the menu, it opens the main page, but in a new browser tab. If I put it at the left end of the menu - i.e., the first thing that loads after Welcome, I get this:

Have to take that custom menu item down now.

I've tried the custom link two different ways:

and they both produce the same result.

I'm going to have to take that menu item out pretty soon, though, since the site is live.

In your AID theme, you have the option of adding a custom redirect link to pages and posts, for use in the sliders. If that was added to MISC, could it help?

Nope, I'm using MISC - awesome theme, BTW. I added it to the top of the menu stack, so I think my site is trying to load the custom menu immediately after the welcome page.

Please visit your "menus" page and remove this custom menu item from your main menu.

Client would like for me to add a HOME page button to menu. I know that you just scroll up from a page, but they'd like it there none the less. I tried to add the"welcome" page to the menu, but that didn't work well. Any hints?
