I've replaced it with a different font which is working... still, a strange issue.

Just a datapoint:

Creating test pages, this type comes through as intended in Chrome, using the google-provided syntax...

However, when the above is run through the Theme's font system, it does not work (in Chrome - fine in Safari).

Trying to use the Custom Font field for this font:

Open Sans Extra Bold 800

The api code generated works fine in Safari and in the preview, but in Chrome it does not take.

Adding keyword: "Open Sans"

along with the API code has it display in Open Sans (in Chrome), but not the extra weight. I cannot find the keyword permutation anywhere which works, although it does come through in Safari and in the preview panel in Chrome.

For example, using keyword "Open Sans 800" or "Open Sans Extra Bold" or "Open Sans Extra Bold 800" all cause it to break. Where does one find the appropriate keywords to use, or for this type of thing, will specific styling be needed?

This image shows that the preview panel shows the font coming through as desired, in chrome, but viewing the actual site, it does not (in Chrome). Works fine in Safari:
