A script is being used to make sure images fit the dimensions of the slider exactly. Part of the script takes the image and resizes it, regardless if the image is the exact size or not.

If you're concerned about page loading times (your site loads instantly for me, FYI), I highly recommend trying the "WP Super Cache" plugin. I personally would use this plugin anyways (and I do) because it creates an HTML version of all your pages so it doesn't have to talk to the database every time.

Here's a direct link to the plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-super-cache/

Hi Chris,

We've been enjoying your theme for a while now here, but I just noticed something today.

No matter what image I upload or enter into the "Thumbnail Image" custom field, the slider on the front page generates it's own image which is enormous. Here's an example.

On this post I entered this URL into my "Thumbnail Image" category. The file is 68KB.

However when I inspect what image the front page slider is actually using, I find that it's using this image which is 395KB.

This happens for all posts, so even though I try to optimize my images for faster download speeds, the theme generates exact replicas of the images that I've already optimized... except the theme bloats the replicas into huge files.

This is rather annoying and rather unnecessary since it slows down my entire page download speed and visitors now see parts of a downloaded image before the next partially downloaded image begins displaying in the slider.

Help?

-Paul :)
