It's literally a page with just an image with a link, one after the other. Each image link goes to a sub gallery.

Hi, can you further explain how exactly this can be done technically? I'm not really sure i got your point.

Thx, Roy

If you mean the way I am doing it now eg.
http://norwichblitz.org.uk/norwich-blitz-galleries/
I am just making the links to the sub galleries on the "index" page itself, so it's just a string of images I've made with links to the right gallery subpages.
each sub page is a page using the "gallery" template style.

Since I wrote this I've restructured the galleries to work with Pages instead of Posts+Categories and created the 'Index' page for the main galleries by hand. This creates a less fussy menu.

The way I'm doing sub galleries is as I think the example files do - so you make a Category the 'container' for the sub galleries and then use individual posts to manage the sub galleries and give those posts the category of the container.

This is work in progress on the site I'm making if you look here:
http://norwichblitz.org.uk/category/norwichblitz/
so this category "norwichblitz"
is then used by the three separate posts "People", "Residential Streets", "City Centre".
(only the first gallery has been correctly image optimised)

does that make sense?

I know what you mean about large galleries. It's annoying to wait for the whole thing to load. I am assuming if it did not do this then you would not get the list of thumbnails on the side menu. It would be preferable if it just loaded actual smaller thumbnails for this list instead of preloading the whole image, or is it actually doing this and I'm not noticing...not sure.

Hi, James,

Thank you for that, actually hoped for some lazy load implementation, as I like the big gallery idea.

As for deciding for sub-galleries, is is possible to make a sub-menu in the theme (meaning that will be showed in different screen, not in the "main" menu)?

1) your images are too large - resize down to something around 1000 pixels width.
2) break your gallery into several sub galleries.

Hi,

This kind of a question / feature request post...

First I want to say I really like the theme — very nice design and layout.

I uploaded to one gallery 89 pictures (see here: http://www.tzoriel.com/beautiful-israel-gallery/)

loading the gallery take tons of time! (more than 6 mins to load in average broadband..! - and I'm using caching and performance plugins!!) - can the theme implement some kind of "lazy load" code, that will load only the first photos for quick load, and than later photos will load only upon demand?

http://www.appelsiini.net/projects/lazyload

hoping for some advice here, or improvement on this issue.

Thanks,

Roy
