No, that shouldn't impact the excerpt function. I'm really drawing a blank here as to what could be causing this. I've never seen this issue before.

Can you take a screenshot of your post edit page for me for the most recent post? Just to make sure nothing is out of place or missing, etc.

The only changes I made were what you have recommended in header.php and footer.php. Are those what you are asking about?

I had only the theme installed first. And I have had this problem since the beginning. All plugins were installed later.

I'm confident this isn't a theme-related issue as I don't see anything in the theme that would cause this and have never had a user report this issue before.

Do you have additional plugins installed? If so, try deactivating those to see if they are interfering with the excerpt function.

got rid of the breadcrumbs

i checked the excerpt field and it was empty. i was not even showing them in the posts. i put in a little text in the excerpt to see if that will work but still the full post is shown on the home page

Hi there,

The only way the full post content can be showing is if you have the post content entered in the "excerpt" field. Make sure that excerpt field is blank on the post edit screen.

Regarding the path you mentioned, are you referring to the breadcrumbs (i.e. home > blog > post title)?

If so, open header.php and remove the following on line 160 at the bottom...

<?php if (function_exists('dimox_breadcrumbs') && !is_front_page()) dimox_breadcrumbs(); ?>

In the home page (http://malkajgirinow.com/wordpress/) if you scroll down you will see the full post. It needs to be only the summary. The standard wordpress setting is set to show only summary. I still see the full post.

Also when I click on any of the pages in the menu, I see the path at the top just under the menu. How do I disable this?

I'm not sure what you mean as there is no setting to choose between full/summary content. The home page only shows summaries of posts.

I have the full posts showing in the home page even though I have the setting to show only summaries. Please help.
