That is how the footer is designed. When scrolling, a "back to top" arrow appears in that space. If you still want to remove that space, you'll want to add to the Custom CSS section of the theme options panel using the #footer #copyright declaration.

For exmample: #footer #copyright {margin-left:0;}

To change the styling of the header, you'll want to add to the Custom CSS section of the theme options panel using the #header declaration.

For example: #header {background:#fff; border:none;}

Basically I would like the black footer bar to go all the way to the left. How do I do this?

Also, can I change the color of the header area. It's grey but I'd like to have it white.
