I'm in a tight deadline, can you answer me a few questions please?

1. Can I have a Portfolio and a Gallery category and both will show as a 3x3 images gallery?

2. does the name of the category or the slug it's important? (i.e. Cat = Portfolio or slug=portfolio)

3. Can I use custom-fields for my galleries? I mean a small image for the post and the biggest for the lightbox effect...

So fa this is what is bugging me since I haven't finish my project and it's due before the Exposition this 10th... Thanks!
