I can totally understand you're pushing your envelope and learning each step of the way -- in fact I know exactly how that feels.

Maybe you can use a system like uservoice to help you sort out the most requested ideas, much in the way that Woothemes does it?

http://ideas.woothemes.com/
http://uservoice.com/

That way you'd be able to get some feedback and 'votes' as to the most desired features? Chances are you could use this for a lot of your themes, in fact...

Thanks for sharing Mikey! I really appreciate your feedback here.

I definitely plan on adding to this theme. With each theme I do, I try to incorporate new technology and include stuff I've never done before to make the process more exciting for me. As a result, a lot of the requests I get tend to go beyond my knowledge as the technology I'm working with is very new to me. In this case, the Google maps API V3 is very new (and complicated), so I'm working through everyone's input to see if it is something I can incorporate.

I've been getting a lot of really great ideas and I would LOVE to incorporate them all. It might take me some time, though, to do my research and come up with a way to add these items consistent with the theme design/layout.

Thanks again for posting your ideas!

Hi Chris,

Let me first say that this is a theme I've been looking for for quite some time, but somehow you've managed to meet so many of the needs I've wanted to create, and it's available for $35 on themeforest!?? Fantastic. Unbelievable.

I'm a travel writer and Wordpress enthusiast who is going to be updating my guidebook this year. My dev skills are no where near what you've got going, but I've done a few sites and gotten pretty far along the way. What I do have is a mountain of great content that I've never quite figured out how to show properly.

I would really like to see some extra features in this theme and I'm posting it here because I'm wondering if other people out there would also want it too. Unfortunately travel writers are paid very very badly, and so if you're opening to developing this theme further, perhaps some of the potential buyers out there might also put requests/votes in, resulting in more sales for you? Who knows.

So here goes some of the features I'm wondering you'd consider:

1) A major portion of my guidebook information is geo-located, but another major portion is not -- information like the politics of a country or geography, etc etc. Do you think you could build a way to display this information sensibly?

Here's my website I've already created that I want to change this year:
http://bangladeshtraveller.com -- sorry the design is only so so!

2) I also have a need to differentiate map items and their icons. For instance, here's a map of the highlights of Bangladesh, which I created with google's yucky but standard icons. For instance, an icon set for restaurants/hotels vs. cycling/walking, or even an integration of an existing icon set would be sort of nice so that the destination information could be differentiated visually.

Here's an example KML map I created that has icons:
http://bit.ly/odM0cr

3) Videos and travel information are now becoming really popular -- do you think you could build in a video integration in some way into this theme? I can see others wanting such a feature.

4) Finally, I'm hoping to crowd source a lot of this information and so user-generated content would make this theme incredibly useful to me! I use Gravity Forms already and it's an excellent tool for building forms to collect information and get them to become posts -- there's a bit of work there to integrate google maps. Imagine users could submit added locations to the website? That would be quite a power feature in my mind.

Anyways, I'll leave my wishlist there and invite other buyers to comment on these ideas. When it comes to developing my site further in a couple months, I might have some funding around to pay you for customisation, but in the meantime you might decide to build in some of these features anyways.

Sorry for the uber-long message, I just think your work is really really good and wanted to contribute my ideas :) Thank you so much for creating this theme!! I can't wait to see if/how you develop it further.

-Mikey
