For the second question, go to your admin panel and click on the "Theme Options" at the bottom of you left sidebar (you are still in your admin panel). From there, you can control how many you want to show by typing the appropriate number at "Number of items to display:"
For the first question, do you mean to have the featured posts slideshow but don't want your images to change on their own? If yes, just got an answer from theme's creator about something similar:
"Open up "footer.php" and locate the following towards the bottom:
pauseTime:5000,
The number is in milliseconds, so to make it 7 seconds long, change it to 7000."

Hi Chris,

Two questions.

Can I turn off the Featured posts slideshow?
In your demo page, you showed 6 posts slideshow. Do I need to stick with 6 or I can freely control how many I want to show?
