The featured is just how WordPress handles images specifically thumbnails , and no I dont know of any exact plugins off the top of my head

no, the images are being cropped by using a WordPress feature which crops from the center, theres a few plugins in the codex that can change that

*note we do not actively support plugins so I cannot guarantee compatibility

Most if not all of the images I use for event promotion are flyers. I am having an issue using them as featured images as they auto thumbnail to the center of the image. Is there anything I can do to control the portion of the image that is shown when using it as a featured image?
