Hi Chris, thanks very much for The Navigator theme. Well done!

I have one suggestion I would love to see implemented someday. It would be great to have a "Zoom to Extent" feature for categories / tags. In other words, the map would zoom to display all the points within the category or tag selected. Right now I believe the map just centers on the first member of the category / tag.

In my case this would be particularly useful for State categories in order to display all points within a State.

Chris, the theme is an excellent piece of work ... congrats.

Here the wishes:

1. responsive design on ipad mini is very different - header and footer need a lot of space, > for example in header logo in the middle above drop down menu or the toggle of the sidebar is gone and the sidebar added below the footer. Pity....

2. a drop down menu for selecting different markers - to enter or c&p always the path to the different graphic files is not very comfortable.

3. to assign in the settings different markers to categories.

4. the possibility to put more markers in one post to show the milestones of a tour instead of assigning a category for the tour and creating for every milestone a post.
4a. to connect the markers with a line to show the order of a tour - it means to assign the markers an ascending/descending order.
4b. Nesting of markers - for example to assign a main marker like a city and then submarkers (for example all tours possible in a day-trip)

5. toggle for video files

1. A different pin colour for the 'latest post'

2. Integrate display of 'blog' posts/blogroll with the location posts.

3. Image gallery

4. Allow multiple overview map with filters by tag (or URL property) - in my case to allow a display of a single continent, not the world

It would be great, if there was an option to filter posts of map with checkboxes.

Would it be possible to add a focus point location instead of focusing on the last post. It would be so much easier to maintain ideal map orientation.

I’m finding the ‘wide page template’ very useful :)
It would be great if this was also an option for ‘blog posts’ as the view at the moment is very limited to view a blog post.

To top it off a sidebar here would be awesome.

I'd like to see a default MAP STYLE setting in THEME OPTIONS for both the MAP page and for all SINGLE Posting map pages.

Version 2.0 of The Navigator now available!

Very excited to hear that responsive design is coming in 2.0. My wishlist after using this theme for just a few days:

1. I'd like the option to give an array of image URLs to use as background images on pages and posts without coordinates, then have a random URL chosen from the array for each pageload.
2. The ability to set a fixed center point for the front page, independent of any post coordinates, would be hugely useful. This is my top request, by far.
3. It would be nice to support paths, polygons, or uploaded KML files, to extend the map options for a post beyond just a point on the map.

I'd like to see every pins name when i see in mobile device.
and when i click post i could set background picture instead of map.

I could change the listing wide, so forget the last one ;) And also see that its possible to add youtube, etc vids so it would be enough with that. Regards!!

Regarding the improvements I would add:
+1 Street View

++++ Add Video Gallery (or at least allow 1 single video) above the listings page photo gallery.
++++ Listings page more wide (that way we could increase the font size a little). And also news/blog page bigger (or more wide)

THEME UPDATE!

Version 1.7 is now available with new features :-)

1) Individual Pins through all posts in category / tag. Setup one time for category / tag.

2) Retina Logo - must have now! And site wide retina images (in content). IPad - more then 40% users now!

3) More useful map location process (drag and drop pin on map when create/edit the posts?)

- More Map Location Control -

Hey Chris - I think the theme could really benefit from more flexibility for mapping on the Homepage and/or on Posts. I specifically need the ability to show "all locations" on a map behind blog post (or series of posts to a category or recents). Right now, only locations for items in the "main panel" are shown on the map in the background.

A few ways to do this...

- Put an option on each post (down by the Lat/Long) that allows the user to specify zero or more Categories that hold that the locations they want on the bg map.
- and/or when the user selects "Your Latest Posts" under Static Front Page, show the latest posts over the bg map that has ALL locations mapped, not just those mentioned in the posts.

Im sure there are other alternatives.... and there are at least two of us that would appreciate it!

I'd really like to select custom fields to be shown in the Meta section other than just the author, date, and category. For me that would be the ability to select other custom fields like ascent, descent, dailyDistance, startpoint, etc. It would also be awesome to be able to customize the displayed labels rather than have to use the field key.

When someone clicks on a category listing, such as "Lodging" on my site http://www.LivingIndumaguete.com, the map is always centered on the most recent post entry.

It would be nice if ALL the listings for that category would be visible on the map without having to drag it around to see that they exist. Then a visitor could choose from the available map pins.

Another thing I have noticed....in the box that opens up when you click pages, if there is a lot of info, you have to use the scroll wheel on the mouse to move down the page.

It would be nice to have a scroll bar on the side to indicate to users that there is additional info that isn't visible without scrolling down.

I know it's a little thing, but sometimes little things mean a lot!

Also, an given that each point has a time/date associated with it, would it be possible to enable a straight line which connects points to be automatically drawn? This would be VERY useful in terms of making sense of an otherwise messy travel path.

Would be good if the arrow keys on the keyboard could be used to move from next/previous marker. Works for the lightbox, would be really great for the map too.

My request would be:
If I have been to a place several time.. and add a category to it ti will appear into the same page with detail and a new gallery on the same page... like this

There are a lot of options that could be added to this template, but unfortunately that requires a bit of capital and someone knowledgable in the specific type of code you want written... If all goes well, I may be able to suggest such a person!!
I have the same recommendations as everyone else here, so let's cross our fingers :)

Panoramio photos in Google Maps

The bulk upload option would be great and also the ability to include polygons or lines.

Its a great start though.
