Hi there,

The site title field/option does not control the site logo option, which is what I believe you're referring to. The logo is an image file that you can replace on the customize page. The site title field is what displays in the browser chrome (or in the browser tab when multiple tabs are opened).

Let me know if that helps.

Best,

Hi there,

Great questions!

1. The theme Customizer settings should carry over in the update just fine, BUT it's not a bad idea to copy/paste your CSS edits into a text file just in case. ;-)

2. All the WordPress content (pages, posts, etc.) will stay there.

My warnings are mainly for users who make edits to the actual template files (i.e. header.php, page.php, etc.). Those changes will be replaced by the updated theme files. You theme/wp settings will be fine. But like I said, if it's easy to copy/paste stuff (specifically your CSS edits), I always recommend doing that.

Hope that helps!

Best,

Christopher

Hi,

I am about to upgrade your theme (still have the 2013 version), thing that I have never done before.
I'm very much afraid to loose my modifications, so I want to do that properly.

By "be sure to make note of them and apply the changes to the newer files. Otherwise you will LOSE YOUR EDITS" you mean:

- copy the whole Custom CSS box under "Customize" and paste it in the new upgraded theme ?
- or also the "menu", "General", "Background Images" and "Slider" under "Customize" ?

Will the following be for sure saved automatically to new upgrade:
- "Posts" and "Pages"
- Settings (and all subcategories of settings: general, writing, reading, permalinks, ...)
- Widgets
- Plugins installed
- Users
- Media

Thanks a lot for your feedback.

Cheers,
Julie

Hi there,

There have been extensive updates/changes to the theme since version 1.1.1. I don't know the extend of your edits, but it's possible the entire structure of your customizations would need to be updated anyways.

Sorry I don't have a good solution for you here.

I'm looking to update my old install of Aid (v1.1.1), but I made extensive customizations and I've got quite a bit of homework to make sure I pull all of these over after the update. So, I'm wondering if there's any reason why I can't set up the update with my customizations in a child theme?

Hi,

I bought the theme 1,5 - 2 years ago. I have recently read that google will take mobile friendly sites up the ranking, according to a test i did, my site is NOT mobile friendly. Some questions;

1. Will this be solved by updating the theme? I have version 1.2.3
2. Are there strong reasons for me to update? I am a below average in terms of skills, although i obviously did manage to start up my website.
3. I have not changed any code, but i have put my own widgets etcetera at place. You can view it at http://www.spelaktier.se. How will an update effect my current site? Do i need to redo a lot of work, or will the update be smooth?
4. Do i need to pay for the update?
5. Should i update?

BEFORE YOU UPDATE:

If you made any changes to the older theme files, be sure to make note of them and apply the changes to the newer files. Otherwise you will LOSE YOUR EDITS.

If you're updating from a version of the theme that required you to install the OptionTree plugin, you'll need to delete that plugin as it is no longer required.

Make sure your database AND website files are backed up before you make any changes.

TO UPDATE THE THEME:

Download the latest version of the theme from your downloads page on ThemeForest.

Using an FTP tool, navigate to the themes folder in your WordPress installation.

yourdomain.com > wordpress folder > wp-content > themes > theme name

Replace the old theme folder (contains "style.css" inside) with the new one via FTP.

AFTER UPDATING THE THEME:
All themes now use the WordPress Theme Customizer for the theme options. Be sure to review all the options available on the customize page (appearance > customize) as there may be some new options available with the update.

If you're updating from a version of the theme that required you to install the OptionTree plugin, you'll need to reapply your theme settings on the customize page and delete the OptionTree plugin as it is no longer required.
