Im not sure what email you sent it to

anyways the theme uses a WordPress function to open in the new window(nothing in the theme would be preventing it if you have it checked)

can you take a screenshot of your menu admin

are you sure your saving it after checking the box

It doesnt look like your adding the target blank to it, in the menus(Appearance -> Menus) you need to check "Open link in a new window/tab" for it to open in a new window/tab
