That space is meant as an introduction/teaser to the main article. This is a common practice/feature for news sites. I highly recommend utilizing it.

That said, you can remove it by opening single.php and removing the following on lines 28-30...

	<?php if(!empty($post->post_excerpt)) { the_excerpt(); }?>
</div><!--end postExcerpt-->

I need to add excerpts to my posts, which is meant to be shown on homepage/categoeris page only.

But on your theme, excerpts are shown within the full content page as well, see the example in the picture here http://imageshack.us/f/849/j425.jpg/
