Hi there,

Make sure you remove the old events from the calendar category/sub-category.

I am using the Post Expirator plugin as you recommended. But want my past events to appear in a new category called ARCHIVE. I want to show the history of the events we have had.
If I do this, the events still show up on the calendar, which we do not want.
I can mark them PRIVATE which eliminates them from the calendar, but they also do not show in the ARCHIVE.
How can I ARCHIVE all past events AND remove them from the calendar itself?
Thanks!

Hi there,

You don't have to delete them. You can put them into "draft" status (as opposed to "published"), and this will keep everything on your site without appearing in the calendar.

I appreciate your feedback here! With each theme, I try to push myself and my abilities to come up with new ideas and explore new territory I've never been in before. This theme was a major stretch for me technically with exploring an entirely new calendar system approach. I learned a lot of PHP in the process, which is not one of my strengths (I'm a front-end guy mainly).

The honest truth is I'm not super fluent with PHP programming, so while I can see the merit in adding the ability to expire posts after they publish, I'm not quite sure how to do it. Just being honest. I'll certainly look into this, though, as I see the benefit in it.

For now, you can easily bulk edit posts and put them into "draft" status to address this if it's something you're client needs for their records.

If you want to explore a more automatic approach, please submit a customization request here: http://themolitor.com/custom

Hope that explains things a bit more :-)

Thanks!

Chris

So once an event is done, there is no way ATM to just have the event go into an archive list of past events?

I see this as a big flaw in your design, and maybe something that should be taken a look at - because any client of mine in this situation would not want to delete past events from their records....

Hi there,

That's correct. All posts in the calendar category will appear in the category. If you want to retire some posts, you need to put them in "draft" status or delete them altogether.

Another option might be searching for a post expiration plugin.

Thanks!
