Oh SNAP! The WordPress "eShop" plugin (from http://www.quirm.net) works perfectly!

OMFG! There you go. Now you have a reputable FREE plugin to sell merchandise or receive contributions!

And it works for various currencies!

I switched servers... I will let you know tomorrow.

Previously, I was on a virtual server and another web site uses eShop and it works great with that web site, but not with wppolitico.

The options tree has problems with the date. I had to manually edit the XML in the scripts folder to set the countdown!?

When it comes to plugins, it's very difficult to determine if any issues lie with the theme or with the plugin. I see you've gotten it to work on other sites. Do they have the same hosting/server configuration that your using with the site running politico?

Of course I'm interested in making sure politico is not the cause of the problem, but since I didn't develop the plugin, I may not be able to fully explore the cause.

That said, what seems to be happening when you try to use the plugin?

I haven't personally used eShop, so I can't say "yay" or "nay". I'm sure any reputable plugin would have a support forum. I'd recommend seeing what people think of it there.

You could also try asking people on Twitter.

Do you recommend using eShop for a shopping cart?

Or do you have another recommendation?

I notice eShop does not add products to the shopping cart (shopping cart remains empty.)
