Do you have any plugins installed? try deactivating all of them and resetting it see if the problems persists , then activating them one by one until the problem happens again to find which one is causing the issue

HI, I noticed it works on other did you upload them the same way? if so it most likely an error in either how you are adding it or with the actually file(PDF) try deleting it and re-adding it.

WP version is 3.3.2. I turned off all plugins, but it did not help. I put an icon through the media library. In the end I wanted to put a link from a PDF document. But it did not work. Direct link to PDF work, but over the icon does not work.

You'll need to be a bit more specific, how do you put a png with a link to it? can you post a link to your site? what version of WordPress are you using? have you tried to disable all plugins?

The error is on a blank line, the function is for creating the admin pages so something is conflicting have you made any changes to the theme code at all?
