WordPress added a CSS box to the customizer ("Additional CSS") AFTER I starting adding CSS support of my own. Use the CSS menu, which is part of the theme framework.

In the "Customise" menu I see "Additional CSS" and the "CSS" tabs. What's the difference between them?

Id like to do some little changes using CSS but I'm not sure in which one to use or if it's the same.
