It appears you may have an extra directory setup in the root of your site. Try replacing the image url I had above with this one:

http://illuminationsculturalexperiences.com/wp-content/themes/WordPress Politico/wppolitico/images/counter_bg.jpg

As a side note, you should not have uploaded the Wordpress Politico folder into the Themes folder of your site. You should have only uploaded the wppolitico folder. Can you confirm for me that you did in fact upload the Wordpress Politico folder also?

It looks like your Stylesheet is missing some code, have you edited it at all? Regardless, you should have this, but it appears to be missing:

#content {
background: url("http://illuminationsculturalexperiences.com/wppolitico/wp-content/themes/wppolitico/images/counter_bg.jpg") no-repeat scroll center top transparent;
padding: 35px 0 65px;
}

Please take a look in Appearance > Editor > Style.css and if you don't see this 'background' line, try adding it.

Save a copy of your Stylesheet prior to editing it just in case you have to re-upload it.

Hi, on the demo site, there is a graphic that spans the page horizontally under the count down timer, above the blog posts. Seems there is a nice divider between the sidebar and the blog posts attached to it as well.
