1. Is it possible to add a shortcode (?) within a caption of an image?
I would like to show how many posts are in a category, displayed within a caption of an image (http://www.theflacks.co.za/birds/) - eg: next to "Albatross" have the number of posts in that category.

2. Is it possible to add a shortcode (?) within a title of a post?
I would like to show how many images are in a post, displayed within the title of a post. (http://www.theflacks.co.za/birds/category/albatrosses/) - eg: next to "Black-browed Albatross" have the number of images within the post.

I know I can manually go in and do it but it is an administrative nightmare.
