Ah, they were "pending" posts users submitted to test the front-end news submission feature. I have alerts turned off for that, so I didn't think to check before creating the export file.

Best,

Thanks for the heads up! I'll check it out. It's possible those are spam comments in the XML.

Best,

Chris,

Everything came together with the Demo content exactly per your demo content video.

You should definitely check that XML file

Thanks,

Christopher,

I got the file you sent and tried it with a fresh install of WP and got similar results (the importer timed out and the posts were all wacky). So here is what I did. I downloaded a 3rd Party importer plugin and ran through the entire process (from a fresh WP install). The 3rd party importer was successful (didn't time out) BUT I still got the malformed posts. Here's where it gets interesting. Using the 3rd party importer I did get 58 legitimate posts and 1500+ pending posts which look like Malware. I deleted the 1500 pending posts and now I see the "legitimate" demo content.

I think you need to look at that XML file because I think it is dirty. I am going to complete the configuration of the demo content and I will let you know one way or the other what happens.

Thanks,
Mark

Hi there,

It's possible the import/export process has changed since I last bundled the demo file. I'll send you a fresh copy to your email provided. Be sure to check your spam if you don't see it in your inbox.

Best,

Hi,

I have tried three times to import the demo content for The Daily Press but get the same problems as a result.

1. The import times out.
2. The post content looks nothing like the demo content should. All the posts look garbled and I searched the posts for demo posts that are listed in the demo site and couldn't find any. Quite frankly, it looks like the demo file got compromised.
3. Categories are imported, but there are no posts assigned.

We really need to start out with the site looking somewhat the demo.

The import was done using a fresh copy of Wordpress without any plugins. Once it failed the first time, I provisioned a fresh copy of Wordpress again and tried the import again. Same thing the 3rd time.

Please help!

Thank you.

Mark
