I just checked it in my demo and its still there, the code that controls it is in a completely different file(footer.php) try removing 84-94 see if your server doesnt like that statement thats left

Chris, you woud not believe, but it reproduces :) I remove this code and the slider stops working. I restore it and slider appears. Just tried once again.

I found that it kills "You may also like" slider. Is there another solution to remove the author box?

Open up the single.php and comment out or remove line 20

then comment or remove lines 85-93

make sure you back the file up before removing anything
