Hi there,

Navigate to the Customize page (appearance > customize) and click on the "Header Image" section. There you will see some sliders that control the opacity of the dark overlay. Keep in mind, the purpose of the overlay is to make text legible when the background image has some/all white in it, which makes the white text almost invisible without the overlay.

Regarding the background color in the sidebar, you can control that using the "background" color option in the "Color" section on the Customize page (appearance > customize).

HI THERE,
IS THERE A WAY TO REMOVE THE DARK SCREEN OVER THE IMAGES?
ALSO CAN I CHANGE THE BKGD COLOR BEHIND THE NAVIGATION FROM BLACK?
