1. It's really frustrating that this wasn't included in the theme. I also don't think that Custom post types is this huge thing that couldn't have been included. I see on the Wordpress codex site (http://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Types#Custom_Post_Types) that:

"In practice, custom post types have been around for a long time, more specifically since February 17, 2005, when WordPress 1.5 added support for static pages, creating the post_type database field.

The wp_insert_post() function has been around since WordPress 1.0, so when the post_type field was implemented in 1.5, you could simply set the post_type value when inserting a post. Of course, creating and managing custom post types required much more than that, but the amount of coding needed became less and less as WordPress functions became more and more flexible.

By version 2.8, the register_post_type() function and some other helpful things were added to the nightly builds, and when 2.9 came out, the functions became available to everyone. At this point, extensive coding and hacks were not needed to make WordPress a full blown CMS; you could use plenty of great built-in functions to make WordPress do your bidding."

I don't understand how this very nice theme can't handle it when other cheap or free themes do. What really gets me is that this is a paid theme, and then you want me to pay $450 dollars to another developer that you are obviously working with.

2. An omission in the feature list is not always noticed. Just because you didn't list that you don't support the functionality, doesn't mean people would notice that until they pay and go to use the functionality.

3. I have found plugins that allow me to easily create custom post types of my own, along with all the functions I need, but i still can't get other plugins that I bought to work with the theme.

4. I want to know that If I spend all the time adding the functionality into the theme following all the examples out there, that it will work. Has anyone successfully added Custom Post types into the theme, and had them smoothly work with all the other functions of the theme?

Hi there,

Few things to keep in mind...

1. Custom post types are not a standard feature of WordPress. They are a custom feature (i.e. CUSTOM post types).

2. The demo site showcases all features of the theme and the item page on ThemeForest lists all features of the theme. There shouldn't be any surprises there.

3. To implement a custom post type, a developer needs to know what type of post type you need, how many you want, how you want them to display and any other additional features required for those post types you want.

Hope that explains things better.

Best,

Chris

I never saw anywhere that this part of wordpress was not supported when I bought the theme. I don't think it's right that I should have to pay a third party after paying for the theme. Especially for a built in function of Wordpress. The author can't help with this?

Has anyone figured out how to get Custom Post Types to work in The Daily Press Theme? I have been struggling with this for so long. I am several plugins that simply will not work. One is the All in One Calendar Plugin. http://staging.time.ly/tag/not-showing/ When I click on the detail page of the event, the screen just hangs, doesn't complete drawing the page. Anyone help with this? Thanks so much!
