Hi there,

To create a "dummy" menu item, simply create a custom link and use "#" as the url. This will allow you to add sub menu items to the link without it actually linking anywhere.

I could break the menu down to "Continents" then "Countries" as subcategories. That should "spread it" out better. How do I disable a Continent menu item as being "clickable"?

You may experience some issues with menus that long. I would explore options that reduce the number of categories you need. Maybe try combining some countries into a single category?

Found a plugin http://wordpress.org/plugins/allow-html-in-category-descriptions/. Sorry Chris I'm a newbie and have a ton of questions. When adding categories to pages, like 200+ countries is it going to extend the drop down out of sight or does a scroll bar show up? Any suggestions on dealing with the overflow?

Regarding the text on the Asia page, that is controlled from the category description box on the category edit page. Currently WordPress doesn't allow HTML markup in the category description box, but you might be able to search for a plugin that adds that functionality.

You can add html to the content box (the one you mentioned as Asia) so have you tried putting the flag images in there, either in a table or a column and then linking the images to your country locations?

Or, you could use the info box at the bottom of the asia page/post (bottom left)- you would just add the map as a featured image in there. So, for example. You have a post called 'Asia' you have a post called 'Thailand' and a post called 'India' When you add a featured image to India and Thailand and assign those 2 to the category 'Asia' then the info box at the bottom left will display the flags.

Sorry I may have confused you by jumping ahead of myself. When looking at http://themes.themolitor.com/wpnavigator/category/locations/asia/ there is a dialog box Titled "Asia" I want to be able to display an animated flag and links there for each country either in that box or somewhere on that page. I came across a logic widget plugin that will place widgets into category pages but that is a ton of work.

To clarify, creating categories allows you to link to them in the menu like the demo site. The categories don't show on the map, just posts.

You can customize the pin/marker for a location on the post edit screen. Currently you need to customize each post individually as there isn't a category pin setting.

I have downloaded flags for each country but not sure where I can place them like I could with pages. Any suggestions? Maybe widgets?

Disregard. It was a browser issue. Works with Firefox. I did however come across some people who were unable to save after 16 menu items. Do I need to watch out for that?

I was doing ok with the menu up until now. I created a page "Select a country" and a category "Afghanistan" and when I save the menu Afghanistan gets "kicked out of" submenu status.

@Nomadog I recommend creating categories for all the locations you want to use. Make sure your posts are assigned to those categories as necessary, then link to the category pages (not standard pages, but category pages) in the menu. I want the home page map to display all my users map pins. Also be able to go individual country pages with maps so more narrow, less cluttered and be able to display by category.

As long as you include the lng/lat information the theme will pick this up and include the map in the background of the page like it does with a post page. Just create a new page in wordpress and add the map information below the text editor.
