The issues you're having are likely related to the use of AJAX in this theme. Plugins that use a lot of scripting need to have support for AJAX in order to function properly on sites like this.

Unfortunately I don't provide support for 3rd-party plugins, so you'll need to solicit the help of the disqus developers regarding any issues with AJAX-based use.

I'm seeing some erratic behaviour with Disqus Commenting System. First, comments don't always come up, and second, styling seems to get bent out of shape. Instead of the normal white Disqus interface, mine is slate grey and doesn't ever full load. There's almost certainly something wrong.
